 How to Locate Your SOLIDWORKS Serial Number 

A SOLIDWORKS serial number is significant because it indicates which products a user is authorized to install and use. Everything you need to install a functional copy of SOLIDWORKS is just a serial number and installation disc. Because machines can malfunction and the serial number cannot be obtained from the machine itself, it is critical to maintain track of where it is and who is using it. In this article, I'll show you three different places to look for your SOLIDWORKS serial number. 

How can I determine the serial number of my machine? 

If your CAD Administrator or IT department isn't already keeping track of which serial numbers are installed in which machines, a user can use any of the following methods to determine which serial number is in a certain machine. 

  SOLIDWORKS Inside

    Launch SOLIDWORKS.
    Navigate to Help > SOLIDWORKS About.

 

 Click the Show Serial Number option to display the SOLIDWORKS serial number that is presently installed on this machine.

 

# The Windows Control Panel

Another ways to find out serial key 

# Navigate to the Control Panel in Windows.
# Navigate to Programs and Features (or select Uninstall a Program).
# Find the SOLIDWORKS installation in the list of applications, right-click it, and choose Change.
# Select Modify the individual installation (on this machine) and then # click Next in the Installation Manager that appears.

 

# Gather all serial numbers listed (there may be several, as all serial numbers for a certain installation will be placed here after installation).

The Windows Registry Editor

 Another ways to find serial key on machine.

 

#  Navigate to the Start menu in Windows.
#  Perform a search for regedit.exe and then open the tool with the same name from the results.
#  Navigate to this position in the folder structure: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SolidWorks\Licenses\Serial Numbers
#  Gather the 'Data' values for all of the keys in this folder location.

This error occurs due to loss of host file in c drive.

which was missing.

i have resolve this issue by following steps:-

Solutions:-

# first open window explorer :

# open c: drive and follow this path

path:- C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

 # open the host file in notepad and copy this text:

 

{# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#    127.0.0.1       localhost
#    ::1             localhost
    127.0.0.1       dslauncher.3ds.com # Added by Dassault Systemes. Do not modify this line.
    ::1             dslauncher.3ds.com # Added by Dassault Systemes. Do not modify this line.}
 

 

#  save file on desktop or any other folder with hosts file name.

# After save this file. go to c drive. and follow this path

 path:- C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

 # delete the old hosts file and copy new file.

# restart your  PC and Run 3dexperince 

and   3DEXPERIENCE  launcher can be run.

 ERROR OCCUR:-

“The Source Folder Is Not Versioned Properly…” Error when Modifying Serial Number 

 If you receive the message "The source folder is not properly versioned:. If you manually copied this folder, you may have overlooked the swdata99.id or swdata1.id files, which identify the version of a download or DVD folder, respectively; if the file could not be written.", this post is for you. This notice may appear if you adjust the installation to change serial numbers or if you install different SOLIDWORKS versions at the same time. The good news is that we can fix this in a few simple steps. 

 

 SOLUTIONS:-

The answer is to create the versioning file in the place specified by the error message. To accomplish this, take these steps: 

#  Navigate to the Download Path file location mentioned in the error message and determine your SOLIDWORKS version and Service Pack.
 

#  In this directory, check for any file named "swdata99.id" and remove it. This file might or might not exist.
 

 # Launch Notepad


#  Enter the following in Notepad: "SOLIDWORKS XXXX SPxx" Where X is the Solidworks year version and x represents the service pack. For example, to search for Solidworks 2021 Service Pack 3, use "SOLIDWORKS 2021 SP03".


# Click "File" -> "Save As" and store it in the location you specified in Step 1. This file will be renamed later.
