ERROR OCCUR:-
“The Source Folder Is Not Versioned Properly…” Error when Modifying Serial Number
If you receive the message "The source folder is not properly versioned:. If you manually copied this folder, you may have overlooked the swdata99.id or swdata1.id files, which identify the version of a download or DVD folder, respectively; if the file could not be written.", this post is for you. This notice may appear if you adjust the installation to change serial numbers or if you install different SOLIDWORKS versions at the same time. The good news is that we can fix this in a few simple steps.
SOLUTIONS:-
The answer is to create the versioning file in the place specified by the error message. To accomplish this, take these steps:
# Navigate to the Download Path file location mentioned in the error message and determine your SOLIDWORKS version and Service Pack.
# In this directory, check for any file named "swdata99.id" and remove it. This file might or might not exist.
# Launch Notepad
# Enter the following in Notepad: "SOLIDWORKS XXXX SPxx" Where X is the Solidworks year version and x represents the service pack. For example, to search for Solidworks 2021 Service Pack 3, use "SOLIDWORKS 2021 SP03".
# Click "File" -> "Save As" and store it in the location you specified in Step 1. This file will be renamed later.

# Check that file extensions are shown in file explorer. To accomplish this, navigate to "View" and check the "File Name Extensions" box.
